The Problem
Maverick's Playlist wanted to seamlessly convert their existing user base to a decentralized platform, while improving upon their brand image and the listener experience.
The Solution
I created an immersive and engaging web experience, which not only walks the user through the features and benefits of the web3 integrations, but also strengthens the updated brand through a rich presentation.
Competitor Benchmarking
Working directly with the client, we went through the websites of similar projects and identified strengths and weaknesses within their user experiences.
Problem Space
The problem I found with many of competitor sites is that although they we're beautifully crafted through animations and effects, very few of them provided a rich mobile experience, and in some cases, no mobile experience at all.
How could I create an equally rich user experience across all devices?
Ideation
Working as a team with the developer and client, we created a mood board to lock in the branding and stylization. We also worked through solutions as well as possible limitations in Figjam.
What can we add
Our highest priority was an equally rich experience across devices.
What can we improve
Build an immersive cyberpunk experience through interactions, overlays and animation.
Rapid Prototyping
Within Figjam, I sketched out a basic user flow and UI layout. While sketching, I noted possible needed components as well as styles and brand elements to implement.
Styles & Components
Maverick's Playlist has a very robust, post-apocalyptic branding style. To emulate that, I created cyberpunk-style elements and overlays for the interface.
High Fidelity Prototype
The final hi-fi prototype guides the user through an immersive and informative experience. We designed a detailed and memorable interface that emulates the edgy brand style as well as educates users about the benefits of a decentralized web3 record label.
Three key learnings
1. Creating a visual centric experience while still being informative
2. Working closely with a developer to solve problems and try new ideas
3. Using animation and illustration to tell a brand's story.
Next steps
If I had more time to work with the Maverick's Playlist team and continue building out their web and mobile experience, I would run UX testing on the platform, as well as build out the NFT marketplace portal and tokenomics platform.
